Superintendent Patrick Reed announced today that in response to the potential closure of Hwy 728, Green River Ferry will operate 24 hours per day beginning Friday evening. The all day-all night ferry schedule will continue as long as Hwy 728 is closed.
"We want to help the community and hopefully keeping the ferry running overnight will do just that," said Reed. "Our only complication will be if the level of Green River rises past 22 feet, we will have to shut down the ferry."
At 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, the level of the river at the Green River Ferry measured 18 feet and falling.
"We are going to keep the Green River Ferry running overnight on Friday as a precaution," added Reed. "If Hwy 728 closes, we will be ready. We will continue on a day-to-day basis, and keep the ferry running 24 hours per day as long as Hwy 728 is closed."
