(MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK – March 30, 2009) Superintendent Patrick Reed announced today that the park has begun a project to improve traffic across the Green River in the park. Two public open houses will be conducted in Edmonson County April 13 and 14 to inform the public about the concepts the park is considering and encourage public comment.
“We are holding the open houses in Brownsville and Lincoln in an attempt to reach the people who regularly travel through the park,” said Reed.
The open houses will be on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the public library in Brownsville, Ky., and on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Fire Station in Lincoln, Ky. The purpose of the open houses is to provide the public and interested agencies and organizations an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and comment early in the planning process. Information will be provided regarding the current status of this effort, and park staff will be available to answer questions. The public is invited to visit at any point during the scheduled time to review materials and provide comments.
