(MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK – August 29, 2007) Mammoth Cave National Park's two ferries, Green River Ferry and Houchins Ferry, reopened for light traffic today. Rain showers Tuesday increased the level of the Green River enough to permit the ferries to take on limited loads. Traffic may be limited to a single vehicle per transit. The ferries remain unable to convey vehicles with trailers pending a further increase in river levels.
Mammoth Cave National Park, like most of Kentucky, is currently under extreme drought conditions.
