Superintendent Patrick Reed announced that the park will make excess wood, downed as a result of the January 27 ice storm, available for the public beginning today.
“Following the ice storm, we moved downed tree trunks away from the roads so we could make them passable,” said Reed. “We consider the logs to be excess and if left in the park, the wood could become a fire hazard. We offer the logs free of charge to the public – if you can haul it, you can have it. Please contact our rangers to make arrangements.”
The logs are stockpiled in closed areas of the park and at Lincoln VFD. People interested in collecting the logs and hauling them away must contact the park ranger staff to make arrangements – 270.758.2115.
