On Saturday, September 30th you will have the opportunity to volunteer with the Lowell Canalwaters Cleaners, participate in Lowell’s Urban Trails Showcase, get active with Wellness on the Walkways, and visit the Boott Cotton Mills Museum for free.
Start your morning by helping to take care one of Lowell’s waterways! The Lowell Canalwaters Cleaners and Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust are looking for volunteers to help with a cleanup from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Concord River Greenway (Davidson St, Lowell MA 01852). All ages are welcome, although children under 18 need to be accompanied with an adult. Check www.lowelllandtrust.org for more details. Bring your friends and family, and help keep Lowell’s waters clean and scenic for everyone!
Lowell’s celebration of National Public Lands Day continues with the Lowell’s Urban Trails Showcase at Boarding House Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for a one day extravaganza as we showcase the activities created in partnership with Lowell Community Health Center, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, City of Lowell Senior Center, Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School, and YWCA of Lowell as part of the Discover Lowell’s Urban Trails initiative.
As part of the Urban Trails Showcase, drop in activities such as photography scavenger hunts, water quality testing, and much more will be available at Boarding House Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Have you enjoyed the Wellness on the Walkways series? Lowell National Historical Park is excited to bring back instructors to lead some fan favorite activities throughout the day. All programs are free of charge and meet at Boarding House Park; however reservations are required for Yoga and Zumba. National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. Through NPLD, the National Environmental Education Foundation “works to connect people to public lands in their community, inspire environmental stewardship, and encourage use of public lands for education, recreation, and general health.”
