Lowell, MA — for those who are familiar with Lowell's canal system while on foot or as viewed from a vehicle, the summer offerings of canal boat tours with a Park Ranger regularly provide a unique perspective of those historical waterways. Each day through September 6, Lowell National Historical Park presents the "Working the Water" and "Engineering Innovation" tours, exploring the Pawtucket Canal and/or the Merrimack River above the dam and sharing the narrative of Lowell's industrial history.
In addition, on two nights a week through August 20, the "Evening Cruise" offers an opportunity for visitors to pack a brown bag supper for a cruise on the Merrimack River, Pawtucket Canal, the mill pond and the upstream section of the river from the Pawtucket Dam. This two hour tour is offered each Thursday and Friday at 6:00 pm.
