Lowell, MA.— Temperatures are dropping, but fun is on the rise at Lowell Kids Week 2017! Lowell Kids Week is an annual festival of free family fun that takes place during February school vacation, February 20-25, 2017. Events are hosted throughout Lowell by over twenty partner organizations, offering approximately fifty free programs, and serving over 2,500 local kids and their families. This year, families will enjoy an exciting variety of new programs, as well as many returning favorites. There’s something for everyone, so get ready for a week full of creativity, discovery, and fun at Lowell Kids Week 2017! Here is a sneak peek of some of the programs you can look forward to:
  • Show off your creativity as you build a city with local artist Judith Bessette, craft papier mache' birds courtesy of Art with Artists, and create origami versions of animals found in the Merrimack Valley with a park ranger.
  • Your detective skills will be put to the test with a winter scavenger hunt at Hawk Valley Farm, a produce scavenger hunt at Stop & Shop in Chelmsford, and a boarding house scavenger hunt at Lowell National Historical Park.
  • Get active with glow in the dark bowling courtesy of Coalition for a Better Acre, a Pokémon Go quest with a Pokémon Trainer, and a shoot around session with Rowdy the River Hawk, a partnership with Lowell General Hospital and UMass Lowell.
  • Weather too cold? Enjoy hot chocolate and a movie at Pollard Memorial Library, BINGO with your grandparents at Council on Aging, and a weaving workshop at Tsongas Industrial History Center.
The fun doesn’t stop there! The complete schedule of events will be available February 1st at www.lowellkidsweek.org. All programs are free, but many require pre-registration – plan ahead and register early!
