Directions to the Lowell Youth Summit

Driving and parking directions for the Lowell National Historical Park Boardinghouse Park, 115 John Street, Lowell, MA 01852

We strongly recommend that all visitors approach Lowell via Interstate 495 or route 3. From either of these major highways take the exit marked “Lowell Connector” to the end. this is a left exit at the end of the Connector onto Gorham Street.

Follow Gorham Street which becomes Central Street. (Road divides and has a slight “bow” in it; continue in the original direction.)

Proceed through six traffic lights. At the sixth light turn left onto Merrimack Street. (At this point you have come to a T in the road and must turn left.)

Take your first right onto John Street. At the end of this block is the Joseph Downes Parking Garage on your right. Please park here. Note this garage charges a fee for parking.

Boardinghouse Park is located directly across the street from the garage.


Driving and parking directions for the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center Parking Lot at 304 Dutton Street

Approach Lowell via Interstate 495 or route 3. From either of these major highways take the exit marked “Lowell Connector”.

Take the Lowell Connector to Thorndike Street (Exit 5B). Follow the brown and white “Lowell National and State Park” signs.

Free parking is available at the Visitor Center parking lot located on Dutton Street. Once you exit the Lowell Connector, continue to travel towards downtown. Thorndike Street becomes Dutton Street. At the fourth light you will see signs for the Visitor Center Parking Lot on your right. (The Boott Cotton Mills is a short ten-minute walk from the Visitor Center.) Walk across parking lot to the Visitor Center. From the Visitor Center, walk directly ahead up Shattuck Street (cobblestone surface) to Merrimack Street. Turn right at the Subway Sub Shop and walk to the next street, which is Kirk Street. Turn left and walk to the end of Kirk Street. Turn right and walk towards Boardinghouse Park.

MBTA Commuter Rail

The MBTA offers commuter rail service to Lowell on the Lowell Line from North Station. If you decided to travel by train, please arrange with Amy in advance for our staff to pick your group up at the Lowell Gallagher Transportation Terminal.
