UPCOMING LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA EVENTS JUNE 5 – 26

BOULDER CITY, Nevada. – The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening June 5 to 26.

Ranger Chat: Wildlife of Nevada, June 5
Join Lake Mead and Nevada Department of Wildlife staff at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 5 to learn about the variety of wildlife living in the recreation area. Learn tips about wildlife, licenses and other regulations. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Program: Ready, Set, Wear It! June 9
Join rangers at Las Vegas Boat Harbor Marina from noon to 2 p.m. June 9 for a world-wide record attempt for the most life jackets worn. Rangers will be on the marina with a variety of life jackets and family-friendly activities. Learn safe boating tips. For more information, call 702-293-8970.

Ranger Chat: Water Safety and You, June 10
Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 10 to learn about the variety of ways to stay safe this summer. Rangers will demonstrate life jacket usage and share some tips to enhance awareness of how to stay protected while recreating on the lake. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Library Program: Story Time with a Ranger, June 15
Join a ranger at the Boulder City Library in Nevada from 10 to 10:30 a.m. June 15 and learn about the Mojave Desert and the animals that live there. This will include desert-themed storytelling and animal show & tell. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Library Program:  Boating 101: Aquatic Invasive Species, June 15
Join a ranger and staff from the Great Basin Institute at the Laughlin Library in Nevada from 2 to 3 p.m. June 15 and discover the variety of ways to enjoy lakes Mead and Mohave in the summer. Try on a life jacket, learn about aquatic invasive species and discover more about the Katherine Landing area. Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert: A Magical Land, June 16
Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 16 to learn about the plants and wildlife that call this vibrant desert home. From the colorful creosote bush and wily coyote to the smallest beavertail cactus, life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Join a park ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 17 to learn about America’s national parks. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Boulder City Library: Story Time with a Ranger, June 22
Join a ranger at the Boulder City Library in Nevada from 10 to 10:30 a.m. June 22 and learn about the Mojave Desert and the animals that live there. This will include desert-themed storytelling and animal show & tell. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

World Fishing Day, June 23
Join the Nevada Department of Wildlife at the Hemenway Fishing Pier near Boulder Beach from 6 to 8 a.m. June 23 and try to catch some fish. NDOW will provide bait, fishing gear check-out and fishing tips. Water shoes, hats and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing Tips, June 23
Interested in fishing at Lake Mead, but don’t know where to start? Join the Nevada Department of Wildlife at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 23 and learn about fishing gear, bait and places to fish on the lakes. For more information, call 702-486-5127, ext. 3850.

Ranger Chat: Outdoor Fun-A Child’s Nature Perspective, June 24
Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 24 to discover a variety of ways children can learn about Lake Mead National Recreation Area and get in touch with nature. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Program: St. Thomas – A Town Revealed, June 26
Join a ranger at the Boulder City Library in Nevada from 6 to 7 p.m. June 26 and step back in time to the days before Lake Mead covered this unique farming community. Learn about the lifestyles of the people that lived in this small town. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Needles Library: Underwater Explorer, June 26
Join a ranger at the Needles Branch Library in California from 1 to 2 p.m. June 26 and enjoy a variety of Junior Ranger Underwater Explorer activities. Those who participate will receive a special Underwater Explorer Junior Ranger badge and will be sworn in as official Junior Rangers Underwater Explorers. For more information, call 702-293-8970.
