UPCOMING EVENTS AT LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA MARCH 3 TO APRIL 7

BOULDER CITY, Nevada. – The following events are happening at Lake Mead National Recreation Area March 3 to April 7.

Ranger Chat: Women’s History Month, March 3

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 3 to learn about the major role women have played in the history of the United States through their career choices. Women have also influenced Lake Mead National Recreation Area through the work they do on behalf of the National Park Service. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Chat: Archaeology at Lake Mead, March 10

Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 10 to learn about the intriguing archaeology found in the park. A fun board game outlining artifact methods will be played, and artifacts will be on display. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Cottonwood Cove Ecology Walk, March 10

Come and help the park clean up the Cottonwood Cove area. Volunteers are needed to remove trash from the beaches and surrounding desert area. Lunch will be provided by Forever Resorts. For information and to register, contact Rhin at 702-293-8711 or LAKE_Volunteer_Coordinator@nps.gov.

BBSC St. Patrick’s Day Run, March 17

Over 1,000 athletes will be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Half Marathon March 17. The race includes a half marathon, 12K, 5K and one-mile run along the Historic Railroad trail. For more information on this permitted event, visit http://www.bbscrun.com/stpatricksdayrun.

Ranger Hike: Liberty Bell Arch, March 18

Join rangers on March 18 for a five-mile hike in Arizona that passes an old WWII- era mine before reaching a natural arch and a picturesque Colorado River overlook. For more information and to register, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Program: The Power of Energy, March 24

Join local experts at the Lake Mead Visitor Center from 9-11 a.m. March 24 and explore the ever-changing energy needs and impacts of energy generation in the Southwest, as well as current Bureau of Reclamation information about the Lake Mead water level. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert: A Magical Land, March 31 and April 1

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 31 and April 1 to learn about this vibrant desert home. From the desert bighorn sheep found in the rugged mountains to the smallest beavertail cactus, life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape. Great American Cleanup, April 7

Volunteers are invited to clean up litter at Lake Mead National Recreation Area for Great American Cleanup Day. The Great American Cleanup is celebrating its 20th anniversary of community stewardship in 2018. Join staff and volunteers to assist in a litter cleanup of a popular area of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
