LAS VEGAS - Lake Mead National Recreation Area will be celebrating Junior
Ranger Day on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  during the Boulder
City Spring Jamboree at its offices located in historic downtown Boulder

This year park rangers from all aspects of National Park Service careers
will be on hand from law enforcement rangers, interpretive rangers,
maintenance workers to botanists and biologists. Park emergency equipment
will be on display including a fire engine, ambulance and patrol vehicles.

Visitors will have a chance to learn about some of the plants and animals
that make Lake Mead National Recreation Area their home. Most activities
are geared toward young visitors between the ages of 6 and 14.

Junior Ranger Day celebrates Junior Rangers past and present. Junior
Rangers are people who are young or young at heart who have fulfilled the
requirements to earn a Junior Ranger badge or patch in at least one of the
almost 300 National Park units across the nation that have a Junior Ranger
