UPCOMING EVENTS AT LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA JULY 4 TO AUG 1

BOULDER CITY, Nevada. – The following events are happening at Lake Mead National Recreation Area July 4 to August 1.

4th of July Parade: Engaging the Next Generation: Play, Learn, Serve, Work 

National Park Service rangers and Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife employees are teaming up to parade through Boulder City at 9 a.m. July 4 during the annual Damboree Celebration “Great Americans: The Next Generation.” Come out to view law enforcement vehicles and vessels, fire vehicles, the Southern Nevada Agency Partnership mobile exhibit and a fish tank truck. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area headquarters will also be open during the parade at 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City.

Ranger Chat: Public Lands - Treasures of Southern Nevada, July 4  

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 4 to learn about the variety of public lands that surround the Las Vegas Valley. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Evening Program: Music under the Stars, July 10  

Join a ranger for an outdoor live performance by vocalist Dominique Vazquez July 10. She will deliver an acoustic performance, which will include a blend of blues, classic rock and pop. Families are welcome and there will be activities for children. Meet at the Lake Mead Visitor Center Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Ranger Chat: Outdoor Fun - A Child’s Nature Perspective, July 11 

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 11 to learn about a variety of ways children can learn about Lake Mead NRA and get in touch with nature. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Sunset Program: Evening Bat Hike, July 11  

Join a ranger for a walk along the Historic Railroad Trail July 11 to explore bat myths and explain how bats benefit people. An added bonus will be watching the sun set over the lake. Please remember to bring a flashlight. Call 702-293-8990 for more information and to make a reservation.

Evening Program: Desert Night Sky Lights, July 11 

Join a ranger at Nevada Telephone Cove at 8 p.m. July 11 and learn about the changing night sky and how to find planets, major stars and constellations. Astronomer, Edwin Anderson from Northern Arizona University, will follow with a star party. Several telescopes will be available for viewing. Ranger Program: Boating 101, July 18  

Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center Auditorium 3 to 4 p.m. July 18 to learn about the essential musts for boating at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert - A Magical Land, July 19 

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 19 to learn about the plants and animals that call this vibrant desert home. From the desert bighorn sheep found in the rugged mountains to the smallest beavertail cactus, life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape. Ranger Program: Aquatic Invasive Species, July 25 -26  

Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center Auditorium 3 to 4 p.m. July 25 and 11 a.m. to noon July 26 to learn about the harmful impact of the spread of aquatic invasive species and what boaters can do to prevent their continued spread. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 31 to learn how the landscape of the recreation area has changed over millions of years from tropical shallow seas to fiery volcanoes. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

Ranger Program: Full Moon Hike, July 31  

Join the Lake Mead Institute rangers to watch the full moon appear over the mountains, and learn about some constellations along the way July 31. Hike along the Historic Railroad Trail and experience the beauty of the night sky. Not recommended for children under 10 years of age due to hiking distance.
