BULLHEAD CITY MAN PRESUMED DROWNED AT LAKE MOHAVE
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – A 37-year-old Bullhead City, Arizona, man died after swimming at Cabinsite Cove on Lake Mohave June 15.
At 12:40 p.m. June 15, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received a 911 call reporting that the man disappeared underwater. Initial reports indicate that he was swimming out to retrieve a raft that had blown away.
Members of a dive class who were training in the area located the victim about 40-feet underwater and brought him to the surface where lifesaving efforts were initiated. The National Park Service, Arizona Game and Fish, Nevada Department of Wildlife and Bullhead City Fire Department responded to the scene. The victim was transported to an Arizona hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:38 p.m.
Winds were gusting to nearly 20 miles per hour at the time of the incident. The victim was not wearing a life jacket.
The Mohave County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and confirm the victim’s identity. The incident is under investigation.
