BOULDER BEACH TO SEE $1.2 MILLION IN IMPROVEMENTS
BOULDER CITY, NEV. - A $1.2 million construction project began Nov. 13 at Lake Mead National Recreation Area to enhance the Boulder Beach area.
The project includes the installation of a new boat wash station on Hemenway Harbor Road, the installation of a new asphalt parking lot for the existing fish cleaner and comfort station on Hemenway Harbor Road, the installation of approximately 1,000 feet of new asphalt pavement on Horsepower Cove Road, and the rehabilitation of the parking lot and reinforcement of the historic wall foundation at the Lakeview Overlook.
During construction, the Lakeview Overlook, located off Nevada Highway 172 along the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail, will be closed Dec. 7 through March 1. The trail will remain open during most of the construction. A future release will announce when visitors may experience temporary closures along the trail.
The entire Boulder Beach Enhancement Project is scheduled to be completed by April.
Funding for this $1.2 million project was provided through a joint funding agreement with the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and Fish and Wildlife. The contractor is Abide International based out of California.
