STORM CAUSES ROAD CLOSURES WITHIN LAKE MEAD NRA

BOULDER CITY, Nevada –Due to overnight storm damage, some roads within Lake Mead National Recreation Area are closed.

Willow Beach Access Road is closed to the public. Maintenance crews are removing rocks and debris from the roadway. Concession and commercial use authorization employees are permitted to bypass the closure. Crews hope to be able reopen the road to the public by the end of the day.

Temple Bar Access Road is temporarily closed because water from a wash is running across the road. Once the water ceases, the road will reopen.

Nevada Telephone Cove Road by Katherine Landing is closed. An abandoned RV is stuck in the mud. Crews are trying to locate its owner.

Pearce Ferry Road inside the park boundaries is open;however, just outside the boundary, county officials are escorting drivers around debris.

Crews have not been able to assess all backcountry roads in the park. Christmas Tree Pass and Grapevine Canyon Road have damage. It is likely that there is damage at St. Thomas Road and other backcountry areas. Please use caution. Four-wheel drive is recommended.
