Lightning Ignites Wildfire at Kobuk Valley National Park
Kotzebue, Alaska - The lightning-ignited Salmon River Fire was reported by a member of the public around 5 pm on July 23, 2015. As of July 24th the fire is estimated to be approximately 43 acres.

Public Hearings and Comment Period for Compendiums Including Temporary Wildlife Hunting Restrictions
National Park Service compendiums for Alaska will be open for a 30-day public comment period. A compendium – one for each NPS area in Alaska -- is a compilation of all designations, closures and restrictions adopted under the discretionary authority within the regulations covering national parks.
