Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park: Call for Historic Materials and Stories
Kennesaw, GA – Do you have any old photographs, documents, or stories you would like to share? As part of our efforts to uncover hidden histories, we are reaching out to members of the African American community to learn more. First and foremost, we are looking to collect oral histories of members of the communities focusing on family stories as they relate from the 1860's to the 1960's. Additionally, we are also accepting letters, photographs, newspaper clippings, diaries, military records, and postcards to ensure that the stories they tell will be available for years to come. We hope to use these stories and memorabilia to draw connections between those who lived here and the legacies they left behind.
The collection timeframe will from November 10 – 17. During these dates, please call the park between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm to arrange an interview time or to have your historic items scanned. Original documents will not be kept by the park except upon permission by the owner.
For more information, or to set up an interview time, please contact Lorenzo Bright, oral history intern, at (770)-427-4686.
