On Saturday, May 3, 2008, KennesawMountainNationalBattlefieldPark will host Junior Ranger Day activities from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. All activities will take place at the battlefield’s VisitorCenter. Junior Ranger Day is a national event in conjunction with National Park Week that encourages youth to visit and learn at our nation’s federal park sites. Kids will have the chance to earn special, limited edition Junior Ranger badges and certificates after completing a junior ranger day worksheet. Other activities for the day include free face painting, Civil War-era games, a costume contest, art competition, and photos with Kenny, the Kennesaw Bison. Come out to win prizes and have a great time. The day is sure to be fun and, best of all, it’s free!

Kids age five to seventeen are encouraged to illustrate the 1864 Battle of KennesawMountain through art! Be creative and put “paint to paper.”
1:00 p.m. Cup and Ball contest
Kids age five to seventeen can come dressed in their nineteenth century best! Maybe you would like to be your favorite Civil War hero for a day? Or is dressing in corsets your thing? Either way, come dressed as authentically as you can as a citizen of the 19th century!
1:30 p.m. Costume contest judging begins
