TEMPORARY CLOSURE March 9, 2025 Subject: Temporary Closure of Blue Basin Overlook Trail. Location: 3.25 loop trail through Blue Basin in the Sheep Rock Unit of John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Justification: Due to landslides, washouts, and other hazardous conditions, the Blue Basin Overlook Trail will remain closed until further notice. Authority: Authority for this Temporary Closure lies in Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1.5(a): Closures and public use limits.
