It's time to bring that old bike out of storage, knock off the dust, oil the chains, pump up the tires, and check the brakes. The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site (JCNHS) is partnering with Sumter Cycling, the River Valley Regional Commission, and the Andersonville National Historic Site (ANHS) to host the annual Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure. What better way to celebrate the warm weather and the conclusion of National Park Service Week than by linking two of the local National Parks by way of a bike ride? Participants will begin their journey on April 25, 2015, at Rees Park in Americus, Georgia, and ride various routes of 13, 34, 65, and 105 miles. The 13 mile ride is a loop around Americus. The other three route will lead you to either JCNHS or ANHS or both depending on the length of the route you  chose.

Rest stops will be provided along the way, as well as a support vehicle for minor mechanical issues and first aid. Online registration is available through April 22 at Registration is $30 prior to April 5 and $40 after. Children under age 10 ride free. Please contact River Valley Regional Commission at or call (706) 256-2910 for registration, questions, or concerns.
