The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site will "Go Wild!" in celebration of National Park Week April 19-27, 2014. We will kick off the celebration with an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at 12 noon at the Plains High School. Prizes will be given to participants in three categories—ages 3 and under, ages 4-7, and ages 8-12.
The week's activities will continue with a "Walk Off Your Lunch" fun walk.Join a park ranger in the lobby of the Plains High School, each afternoon Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. and enjoy a nice, two-mile stroll through historic Plains.
A special exhibit highlighting the week's events and featuring a special "Go Wild!" video will be on display at the Plains High School. On Sunday, April 27 we will highlight Volunteer Day in the National Park Service and celebrate the VIPs (Volunteers in Parks) at Jimmy Carter National Historic Site who help interpret the life of President Jimmy Carter help preserve the history of this great nation. The National Park Service's Volunteer Day also provides an opportunity for anyone who may be interested to volunteer at their local or favorite National Park. There are 401 units and more than 20,000 National Park Service employees who work with communities across the nation to help preserve our nation's heritage.
Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is sponsoring a photo contest, "Go Wild For Our Park". The contest is open to all participants, and all photos must be taken at the park and submitted no later than June 30, 2014. Three winners will receive an autographed copy of a book authored by President Carter.Check the website for the official rules and entry form.
