What a day for a parade!!! It was a grand day on Saturday, June 30, 2007, when kids and their parents joined the staff of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site for a Pre-Independence Day Celebration and Parade. Children ages 1 to 17 showed their patriotism by decorating strollers, bikes, wagons and scooters for a parade on the grounds of the Plains High School Museum and Visitor Center. All the kids were winners in the celebration of America’s Birthday and prizes were awarded for “Best of Show” in each age group.
There were also other fun activities and a special reading of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, along with ice cream, chips and watermelon. A good time was enjoyed by all on this grand day.
