WHERE: Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, Gateway Arch Lobby St. Louis, Missouri
WHEN: July 26 & August 27, 2015 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
WHAT: Come to the Gateway Arch lobby at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, and join a Park Ranger conducted "Junior Ranger Night Explorer Workshop" helping kids ages 5-12 earn a special patch available at the Arch only this evening. No entry ticket is needed for this program, although you will need a ticket to ride to the Top of the Gateway Arch.
Meet in the Arch Lobby on Thursday, August 27 at 8:00 p.m. to learn some "Tips for Exploring the Night Sky." Washington University scientist and St. Louis Astronomical Society expert Richard Heuermann will talk about telescopes, star maps, and upcoming night sky events.
Weather permitting, both of these programs will be followed by free telescope viewing led by volunteers from the St. Louis Astronomical Society. Due to construction on the Arch grounds, telescope viewing and parking will take place at the southern end of the Old Cathedral parking lot. The Arch Lobby programs will take place regardless of the weather.
Call 314-655-1750 ext. 472 for an update on the weather the afternoon of the event to confirm.
WHY: Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, which includes the Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse, is a unit of the National Park Service. Thanks to the generosity of our partners at the Old Cathedral, the telescope viewing and visitor parking will take place at the southern end of their parking lot, which sits at the corner of Walnut and Memorial Drive.
