Friday, July 31 is World Ranger Day, a day set aside by the International Ranger Federation to honor those who protect, preserve, and interpret natural and cultural resources all over the world. James A. Garfield National Historic Site will host a commemoration ceremony aton Friday, July 31 to recognize World Ranger Day, honor the world's rangers, and remember those who have made the supreme sacrifice protecting visitors and resources.
This ceremony is sponsored and supported by the Friends of James A. Garfield National Historic Site, the Greater Cleveland Police Officers Memorial Society, and the International Ranger Federation. The public is invited to attend and witness the site's second annual commemoration of World Ranger Day. Representatives of several resource protection, law enforcement, and park agencies will attend. The ceremony will include remarks by several officials, the reading of the names of rangers lost since last, and special music.
"We at James A. Garfield National Historic Site consider ourselves fortunate to wear the uniform of National Park Service Rangers," said Acting Site Manager Todd Arrington. "World Ranger Day is a great time to recognize our brother and sister rangers in local, state, and federal agencies here in the United States and also in nations across the globe. We are honored to host this ceremony to recognize our fellow rangers and remember those we have lost."
