Cleveland Shakespeare Festival Returning to James A. Garfield National HistoricSite on Saturday, June 27

For the sixth consecutive summer, the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will perform outdoor Shakespeare at James A. Garfield National Historic Site this year. The performance ofThe Life of Timon of Athens, one of Shakespeare's lesser-known works, will take place at James A. Garfield National Historic Site at7 p.m.on Saturday, June 27. The event is free of charge.

Those attending are invited to bring drinking water, insect repellent, lawn chairs, and anything else needed for their own comfort. Picnic baskets are welcomed;alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Parking will be at James A. Garfield National Historic Site and next door at Faith Lutheran Church. In the event that overflow parking is needed, the location will be Mentor Office Park, located at 8224 Mentor Avenue (just a few blocks east of James A. Garfield National Historic Site). There will be NO parking shuttle between the overflow lot and the Garfield site, so anyone parking in the overflow lot will have to walk to and from James A. Garfield National Historic Site.

"James and Lucretia Garfield both loved Shakespeare, and his diary is full of references to the plays they read or saw performed on the stage. James A. Garfield National Historic Site is a wonderful spot for an outdoor performance ofThe Life of Timon of Athens."

James A. Garfield National Historic Site is located at 8095 Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20) in Mentor, Ohio, approximately 25 miles east of Cleveland. The site offers guided tours of the Garfield home, museum exhibits, and an introductory film. The National Park Service completely restored the house in the late 1990s, making it one of the most impressive presidential homes preserved for the public.
