James A. Garfield National Historic Site is hosting a "Garfield Photo Blitz" event on Saturday, October 29 at 8:30 a.m.The Site is opening its gate early to allow pre-registered photographers special access to the grounds and home! We are adding to our collection of photographs to use for site publicity and social media postings, and we welcome any interested photographers to join in and contribute their beautiful photos! Registered photographers will be able to shoot the many historic structures and artifacts on the site. Images will become the property of the National Park Service, though all photographers will receive digital copies.
James A. Garfield National Historic Site is the restored Victorian-era home and farm of the twentieth President of the United States. The restored home and remaining farm and estate buildings are a lasting reminder of the unique innovation of the Victorian era and the local and national significance of the Garfield family.
The "Garfield Photo Blitz" will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by 10 a.m., when the site opens to the general public. Photographers must register by October 22 to participate in this free event. Access to the Garfield home for interior photos will be available on a first come-first served basis, and limited space is available. Photographers must register by calling the site at 440-255-8722.
