Horne Fire

The Horne Fire near the shore of Duncan Bay by the Tobin-Duncan Portage is approximately 521 acres in size at this time and is 85 percent contained. The fire is being monitored by park staff. The fire began on August 10.

Due to the progress of the Horne Fire, ongoing drought conditions, and elevated levels of fire danger, these closures are necessary to maintain public health and safety. Closed areas will be signed where possible and monitored to ensure compliance.

Closed Areas Include:

  • Greenstone Ridge Trail East of Mount Franklin Junction

  • Duncan Narrows Campground and Dock

  • Tobin Harbor Dock (with the exception of the seaplane dock for the concessions seaplane operation as conditions allow)

  • Hidden Lake Dock

  • Hidden Lake Trail and Lookout Louise

  • Cross-Country Camping Zones 8, 9, 10, 11, 34, 35, 36 are closed for camping as well as cross-country day use

  • Other areas if directed by fire personnel

The fire status will be continually evaluated as conditions change. These closures will remain in place until rescinded.
