Have Fun by Participating in National Park Week Activities
Celebrate and support your national parks during National Park Week,April 19-26, 2014! Homestead National Monument of America is proud to join the rest of the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation in presenting National Park Week, a presidentially proclaimed celebration of our national heritage. Homestead National Monument of America will hold many activities to highlight the wonders of your local national park site as well as the other 400 plus sites around the Nation.
OnApril 26, several extra special events will be going on at the Monument that you won't want to miss. All events begin at the Education Center, are free and require no registration. This year, for the first time, we are featuring an exciting scavenger hunt on the trails as our "Get Out, Get Fit" event. The Prairie Prowl Scavenger Hunt will challenge both kids and adults to trace clues and find treasures and activities around the park. To help celebrate National Junior Ranger Day, rangers will also lead a special scavenger hunt adventure for kids at10 a.m.In addition, see a unique screening of "Yosemite: A Gathering of Spirit," a new 25 minute documentary by Ken Burns. Lastly, enjoy a rare opportunity to hike the park at night on a ranger-led trail walk under the stars!
Saturday, April 26National Park Week Events:
9 a.m.-3 p.m.- Prairie Prowl Scavenger Hunt for all ages
10 a.m.- Ranger Led Scavenger Hunt Adventure for Junior Rangers
1 p.m.,2 p.m., &3 p.m.- Special Screening: "Yosemite: A Gathering of Spirit" by Ken Burns
8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.- Under the Stars Trail Walk

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska and 45 miles south of Lincoln. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free of charge.
