The winner for each category of the 2010 Photo Contest has been decided. Visitors at Homestead National Monument of America judged the entries and the following photos were selected: Kids Division – Natalie Doering’s “Snack Attack”; Adult Division - Jeanne Thornton’s “Time for Apple Pie”; Senior Division –Betty Damrow’s “Walking Bridge Over Cub Creek”. Jeanne Thornton’s “Time for Apple Pie” was selected for overall best picture in the show.
“This has been a great opportunity for the public to show off their photographic skills,” stated Superintendent Mark Engler. “Visitors to the monument have greatly enjoyed looking at and voting for their favorite pictures. I encourage everyone to keep taking pictures at Homestead and be watching for the 2011 Photo Contest.”
The 2010 Photo Contest entries will continue to be displayed at the monument’s Education Center until November 20.

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska. Current hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekends. Admission is free of charge.
