Become a Junior Ranger at Hopewell Furnace!
Young people can become more involved in the National Park experience by participating in the Junior Ranger Program. At each park, materials are available to help participants learn more about that area. Hopewell Furnace NHS has three levels of materials for young visitors to select from (covering grades Kindergarten through High School), depending on their learning level. There is no age limit to learning, Junior Rangers candidates of all ages are encouraged to learn more about Hopewell Furnace by completing the Junior Ranger Program.
Each of our three options include treasures to locate and questions to answer regarding the history of Hopewell. When the materials are completed, candidates then bring their program to the visitor center where a park ranger or volunteer will discuss the results and award the new Junior Ranger with an official Junior Ranger badge from Hopewell Furnace NHS.
The Junior Ranger Program is also offered to scout groups, homeschoolers and schools desiring a self-guided trip to Hopewell Furnace.
