Historians conduct research using primary and secondary sources to produce reports and inventories on specific sites, structures, or technical processes. A degree in architectural history, history of technology, American civilization, or a related field is required; graduate work or equivalent experience is highly recommended.
Applicants must submit a paper, not to exceed 40 pages of text, on a U.S. topic in architectural history, landscape history, history of technology, or the built environment. The work sample should demonstrate primary research and a command of secondary sources in the relevant field of U.S. history. The paper should be unpublished and the applicant must be the sole author.
All work samples must be submitted through USAJobs with the other required application materials. The deadline is 10 March 2017.
