Architects and Landscape Architects measure buildings, landscapes, industrial structures, sites, and objects, including floating vessels, to produce existing-conditions drawings in CAD, including drawings that interpret and explain industrial processes and engineering works. Applicants must have completed at least three years in an accredited program. Course work in an accredited design major is strongly recommended.
Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to produce, standard two-dimensional architectural and/or landscape architectural drawings (site plans, plans, elevations, sections, details, axonometrics). Applicants who possess three-dimensional modeling skills should also submit appropriate examples. Work samples should be accompanied by a short explanation, including a description of technique (e.g. freehand pencil sketch, AutoCAD 2013 drawing, etc.).
Applicants will be evaluated on the following three skills:
- hand lettering
- freehand sketching
- precision computer-aided drafting
Applicants should submit samples which illustrate all three skills.
All work samples must be submitted through USAJobs with the other required application materials. The deadline is 7 March 2016.
Applicants with questions about the architecture or landscape architecture work sample may contact Mark Schara (Architect) at 202-354-2166 or Chris Stevens (Landscape Architect) at 202-354-2146.
