Sitka National Historical Park - Totem Trail

In 2013 a joint project was undertaken by the National Park Service's Harpers Ferry Center, by Sitka National Historical Park, and by the Historic American Landscapes Survey to document the eighteen standing totem poles and house posts along the Totem Trail, in order to enhance the park's interpretive efforts and provide documentation for future preservation planning.

HDP architects Jeremy Mauro and Mark Schara completed laser scanning and photographs on-site. Mark Schara created the final drawings of the totem poles for the HABS/HAER/HALS Collection at the Library of Congress. The virtual tour was developed by Jeremy Mauro, with assistance from Becky Lantanich, Chief of Interpretation and Education, Sitka National Historical Park, and Ryan Carpenter, Park Ranger, Sitka National Historical Park.
