Maryland Heights Rock Climbing Closure, July 2018 Update

Beginning in mid-May 2018 Maryland Heights was closed to all rock climbing and bouldering activities due to a landslide in this area of Harpers Ferry NHP.

As of July 30, 2018 the following areas or routes remain closed:
  • The Main Cliff of Maryland Heights, including the Union Walls, The Gully, The Sign Wall, ABC Ramps, Train Tunnel Wall, and Confederate Wall
  • Skink Rock
  • Bug Valley

All other climbing areas have re-opened and are as follows:
  • All areas within “Elk Ridge”
  • Balcony Rock
  • Balcony Rock Jr.
  • The Tiers and The Pit
  • The Highlands
  • The Outlying Area
  • The Underground Railroad Overhang
  • Land of First Light
