Education volunteers help with the School House Ridge Education Program.

National Park Service

Education volunteers focus on the development, support and presentation of curriculum-based programs. The content includes 19th century American history and some river-based environmental science. The primary topics include the nationally significant resources of the Harpers Ferry area; John Brown, the Civil War, African American history, Industrial history, Transportation history, and Landscape history.

Tiger on the Trail Hike Leader

Hike leaders work specifically with the "Tiger on the Trail" Programs. This is a new park and community-based program which seeks to reconnect students with nature in hopes of creating a lifestyle of environmental conservation and physical activity to help fight obesity in youth today. Teacher Volunteer

Primary duty is to organize, prepare and present curriculum-based interpretive programs utilizing current methods, learning theories and curriculum guidelines for students K - 12.

Teacher’s Aide Volunteer

Primary duties are to assist with the organization, preparation and presentation of curriculum-based interpretive programs utilizing current methods, learning theories and curriculum guidelines for students K - 12, and to support the operation and management of the Education Office.

Primary duty is to support the operation and management of the Education Office.
