Vodcast: In Their Own Words

March 06, 2014 Posted by: Meredith D.

Read about how the Harpers Ferry vodcast program has inspired and influenced the next generation of park supporters.

My one favorite memory from vodcast…

Taylor O., 8th Grade, Costumer
“Making friends with the Park Rangers and I got to make something educational.”

Dylan H., 8th Grade, Actor
“My favorite memory I will take with me about vodcast is how much I have changed over the years since I started [in 6th Grade].”

Quinlan K., 6th Grade, Film Editor
“My favorite thing was scouting for [film] locations and watching the films we are working on.”

From this project I have learned…

Selena S., 8
th Grade, Director
“Throughout vodcast, I have grown to learn and know a lot more about history. Before vodcast I didn’t know a lot about history and I didn’t like it. Now I love it.”

Malachi K., 7
th Grade, Film Editor
“I’ve learned some cool stuff about history and I’ve learned how to do some cool stuff with editing on the computer to make stories about history so that other kids can learn about [Harpers Ferry].”

Jeffrey G., 8
th Grade, Videographer
“I’ve learned how to setup and use tripods [for cameras],…and if you are going to be a videographer, you need to focus on what you are doing and take it seriously.”

Vodcast has inspired me…

Ali H., 8
th Grade, Director
“I want to be an author, so having some experience writing an actual script is actually really cool and has given me experience for later on.”

Logan J., 6
th Grade, Costumer
“It was awesome working with all of the characters and creating their costumes. I’ve learned history is great and costuming is a lot of work and fun. I will definitely do it again next year.”

I am an old time Park Supporter, it is beyond exciting to see the recent updates and how Harper Ferry is reaching out to the future generations! I hope this is contagious and that all parks catch up with social media and look forwars to see the young generations participating and learning more! Congratulations to this team!
