Great Falls, Va. - Great Falls Park is hosting an event in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial and the #FindYourPark campaign this National Public Lands Day, on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 10:00 am to 3:00pm, at Great Falls Park, 9200 Old Dominion Drive, McLean VA 22102. The all-day free event will include activities for all ages to explore how parks and other public lands provide great outdoor experiences with benefits to personal health.
Special celebrity health ambassador, Darryl Haley, formal NFL New England Patriots, Iron Man Tri-athlete, and host on 96.3FM will provide health challenges and promote healthy lifestyle tips. Take on a challenge to complete a park scavenger hunt to discover unique aspects of the park and healthy living activities. Join group fitness activities, including yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, and fitness hikes. See Kaiser Permanente's Mobile Education Theater performances about making healthy choices, and meet mascot Doc Broc. The National Environmental Education Foundation will provide activities for the Children and Nature initiative and offer prescriptions for Outdoor Activity. The Raptor Conservancy of Virginia will have a hawk, owl and bearded vulture demonstrations and special program. Demonstration programs and information about bicycling, kayaking; and park and public land access and opportunities in the area. Come and volunteer by picking up litter, feeling good by beautify the park while getting exercise at the same time. There is fun and exciting activities for all.
