Arlington, VA –Beginning Monday, June 15, 2015 the National Park Service (NPS) will begin repairs on the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) from 395 to the Reagan National Airport in both north and south bound lanes. The work will include associated ramps to the 14th Street Bridge, off and onto the GWMP.The entrance and exits to Reagan National Airport will be coordinated to minimize disturbance to travelers.Lane closures are expected to cause traffic delays.
Single lane closures will occur during non- rush hours between 9:30 AM –3:30 PM. Motorists
can expect two lane closures both north and southbound to occur at night where there are three lanes between 7:00 PM and 5:30 AM. A minimum of one lane will remain open in both the northbound and southbound lanes at all times.
A field office trailer will be placed in the Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary parking lot. This trailer will decrease the number of parking spaces available for the public.
The project is expected to be completed in mid December 2015.
As with all road construction projects, inclement weather may require adjustments to the schedules, including the possibility of postponement. The NPS will continue to inform the public and the media of any adjustments in the work schedules.Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner. The NPS regrets any inconvenience and appreciates all motorists' understanding and patience.
