Salt Flat, Texas–In honor of National Public Lands Day,Saturday, September 24, 2016, Guadalupe Mountains National Park will offer a free admission day. Recognized as a nationwide day of public service and celebration of volunteerism, National Public Lands Day offers free admission to all national parks that charge entrance fees. More than 200,000 volunteers and visitors throughout the country will participate in 2,500 National Public Lands Day events this year.
The nation celebrates National Public Lands Day in various ways with volunteer led hikes, park clean ups, trail building and maintenance, planting native trees or pollinator gardens and assistance with park programs. There are many ways to volunteer and support parks. If you are interested in volunteering at Guadalupe Mountains National Park contact Volunteer Coordinator Fermin Salas at (915) 828-3251 x2311.
