NOTE: Grand Canyon National Park remains in stage 1 fire restrictions year-round which requires that a campfire always be in a designated fire ring within a maintained campground. Inner canyon backcountry users can use gas cook stoves, but campfires and other open fires are never allowed below the canyon rim.

A segment of the Plateau Point Trail, from Havasupai Gardens to the intersection with Tonto Trail West, is open for Tonto Trail users —while the remainder of the Plateau Point Trail, beyond the intersection, remains closed.
North Kaibab Trail Day-use Closures
The National Park Service has announced temporary day-use trail closures for the North Kaibab Trail north of the Manzanita Day Use Area to the Supai Tunnel. The Manzanita Day Use Area will be available for use during the closures.
The trail closures are scheduled between 9 am and 4:30 pm for the following dates:
Monday, April 22, 2024, through Thursday, April 25, 2024
Monday, April 29, 2024, through Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Survey crews will be conducting work during the scheduled hours above the North Kaibab Trail and in the vicinity of the areas. This work requires highly technical canyon wall scaling that creates a rockfall hazard along sections of the public trail corridor. Read the entire news release (4/16/2024)
NORTH KAIBAB TRAIL conditions between Manzanita and Supai Tunnel
Higher elevations of North Kaibab Trail have several inches of snow and ice covering sections of the trail. Early in the morning it is frozen and foot traction is recommended.
Reminder: the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is currently closed to vehicle traffic through May 14, 2024.

Corridor Trail Water Availability
ALERT:Waterline Break has shut off the water at Manzanita, Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, and the Delta/Boat Beach. The only pre-treated, drinking water for hikers in the inner canyon is at Havasupai Gardens. 4/20/2024.

Water pipeline breaks are common, and Grand Canyon National Park recommends that hikers and runners be prepared to filter or disinfect creek water along corridor trails.
On the South Rim? It may be possible to obtain a permit at the Backcountry Information Center. Hours of operation: 8 am to noon; and 1 to 5 pm daily.

Free Shuttle Bus Routes in Operation
Spring 2024 Schedules - March 1, through May 24, 2024 At this time, face masks are not required on shuttle buses.
Village (Blue) Route Shuttle > In service from 7 am to 9 pm. Connects the Visitor Center with lodges, campgrounds, the Backcountry Information Center, and Market Plaza.
Hikers' Express Shuttle >
An early morning bus that transports visitors between the village and South Kaibab Trailhead. Departs the village at 7 and 8 am during April 2024.
Kaibab Rim (Orange) Route >
Begins service at 6 am each day and runs until 30 minutes after sunset. Provides transportation from the Visitor Center Shuttle Bus Terminal to South Kaibab Trailhead, Yaki Point, Pipe Creek Overlook, Mather Point and Yavapai Geology Museum.

Hermit Road (Red) Route >
Begins service at 8 am each day and runs until 30 minutes after sunset. Travels a 7 mile scenic road with stops at 9 exceptional canyon overlooks. (Hermit Road is CLOSED to private vehicles from March 1, through November 30).

April 21 – May 4: Closed for staff training.

The updated vaccines should work well against currently circulating variants of COVID-19, including all Omicron variants that are currently the most prevalent, like the Eris and Priola subvariants.

The order leaves the continued wearing of masks optional for the general public for all businesses with four exceptions: early childhood education, primary and secondary schools, nursing homes and healthcare facilities, where masks are still a required precaution.
