Rangers are looking for information on the whereabouts of 20 year-old Klaus Lauterbach

Grand Canyon, Ariz. – Investigators are looking for a young man last seen on August 9, exiting a commercial shuttle in Grand Canyon National Park.

On the afternoon of Friday, August 14, rangers in Grand Canyon National Park received a report from the Flagstaff Police Department that Klaus Lauterbach, a 20 year-old German-national, had been reported missing by his father.  Klaus’ father last had contact with his son on August 8, and believed that Klaus was going to be visiting the Grand Canyon on Sunday, August 9.

An investigation into whether or not Mr. Lauterbach did visit the park was immediately begun, and rangers were able to confirm that Mr. Lauterbach was seen getting out of a commercial shuttle bus in front of Maswick Lodge on Sunday, August 9.  Klaus’ itinerary while in the park and plans after he left are unknown at this time.

Klaus Lauterbach is described as a white male, 20 years of age.  He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs approximately 145 pounds, and has short brown hair and blue eyes.  (Please see picture.)

Park investigators are asking for the assistance of anyone who has visited the park since August 8 and might have seen Mr. Lauterbach.  If you believe you saw Klaus Lauterbach while visiting the park, please, contact the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center at 928-638-7805.
