Golden Spike Summer Special Events Schedule

Golden Spike will be hosting numerous special events this summer on Saturdays. Our events are listed here and on our calendar. Our regular schedule can by found on our Plan Your Visit page.

May 2021

  • May 8th, 9th, and 10th: 152nd Anniversary of the Driving of the Last Spike.
  • May 29th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45am and 1:00pm. Recommened arrival is 10:00am and 12:30pm.
  • May 31st: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45am and 1:00pm. Recommened arrival is 10:00am and 12:30pm.

June 2021

  • June 5th: 23rd Army Band Concert. 152 years ago the 21st Infantry Band played at the wedding of the rails ceremony. Join us for a one hour concert starting at 3:00 PM.
  • June 12th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45am and 1:00pm. Recommened arrival is 10:00am and 12:30pm.
  • June 19th: Family Day. Join us for a fun filled family day at the park featuring rides on the hand car, motor car, and 1860 costumes.
  • June 26th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45am and 1:00pm. Recommened arrival is 10:00am and 12:30pm.

July 2021

  • July 3rd: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM. Recommened arrival is 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
  • July 10th: Evening Locomotive Run and Star Party. Guided by stars, railroad workers and surveyors depended on starlight for guidance during the construction of the railroad.
  • July 17th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45am and 1:00pm. Recommened arrival is 10:00am and 12:30pm.
  • July 24th: Mormon History Day. A guided morning hike on the Big Fill Trail, reenactments at 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM, and a special guest speaker at 11:30 AM.
  • July 31st: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM. Recommened arrival is 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.

August 2021

  • August 7th: Art Day. The transcontinental railroad inspired artists and writers around the world. Come join us for a family orientated day of art, literature, and festivities. Details are TBD.
  • August 14th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM. Recommened arrival is 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
  • August 21st: Evening Locomotive Run and Star Party. Guided by stars, railroad workers and surveyors depended on starlight for guidance during the construction of the railroad. The locomotives will depart at sunset and be followed by a ranger program and constellation tour.
  • August 28th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM. Recommened arrival is 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.

September 2021

  • September 4th: Reenactment of the 1869 ceremony. Expect a few audience members to get "railroaded" into the cast. Show times are 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM. Recommened arrival is 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.

    October 2021

  • October 16th: Railroaders Festival. Join us for a fun filled family day celebrating railroad culture. Events are TBD.

December 2021

  • December 28th, 29th, 30th: Winter Steam Festival. The cold dense air of winter is the perfect environment for the locomotives to produce clouds of visibile steam. Join us in late December as we run one of our locomotives for a unique photo opportunity. Details TBA.
