American Sign Language Interpretation

We provide Sign Language Interpreters for our park visitors. To request a Sign Language Interpreter we must be given at least five days advanced notice in order to guarantee that an interpreter will be available.

If you are visiting Alcatraz Island we have several accommodations on-site for visitors who are Deaf or whom have hearing impairments. If you are in need of Assistive Listening Devices, they can be requested at the Alcatraz Cruises Ticket Booth at Alcatraz Landing on Pier 33. For visitors who communicate in American Sign Language, the safety video which is shown on the boat is recorded in American Sign Language. Please direct your attention to the television screens on the boat. Once on the island, the welcome video and Indian Occupation videos are both shown in Open Caption. The Cell House Audio Tour is available in American Sign Language. Please indicate to a Cell House staff member that you need the American Sign Language version of the tour and they will provide you with a hand held device. The Cell House tour is also available in a written format if preferred.
