In 2002, the NPS removed an area of eucalyptus immediately adjacent to homes and the trailhead gate at Marin Drive. Downed eucalyptus trees from a previous park project were also removed. The NPS protected the 2002 project site against erosion and the Natural Resource office's ongoing replanting efforts have been successful. NPS crews will continue to thin Eucalyptus along the fire road to maintain emergency access and contain the stand. Trees along the open perimeter of the eucalyptus stand will also be thinned to contain the grove's expansion.
