Find yourself in your National Park and participate in the first ever Bay Area National Parks Selfie Scavenger Hunt!
Participants are asked to take selfies of themselves within the park with the same backdrops as provided here, as well as posted on our social media sites, which also have clues to help park visitors find the locations.
Paticipants will then post selfies they have taken to either Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter with the hashtag #findyourparkselfie and include some form of 2016 in the photo to represent the Park Service’s centennial - whether that be with a printed copy of the centennial logo
available here, writing it on something that’s in the picture, like a piece of paper, or even placing it in the photo with a photo editing application before posting.
For every photo posted, participants get points - and with points come badges and prizes!
Badges, once “earned” from reaching a certain number of points, will be sent to participants.
There are three badges you can earn:
- Junior Ranger: 10 points
- Seasonal Ranger: 25 points
- Superintendent: 50 points
The first person to reach each benchmark will receive an additional prize! The first person to reach superintendent will be awarded an annual park pass, so that hopefully they will keep exploring their National Parks!
Each post will be worth a certain number of points. Each post earns you one point, with additional points added for extra people included in the selfie.
- 1 person: 1 point
- 2 people: 2 points
- 3 or more people: 3 points
So a single post can be worth up to three points if you bring your friends and family out into the parks with you!
The Find Your Park Selfie Scavenger Hunt contest begins July 31st, 2015 and runs until October 27th 2015 (the day Golden Gate National Recreation Area was founded) at 11:59 pm!
Get up, Get out there, and Find Your Park!
