UPDATE: December 2, 2021 Fort Baker Historic Boat Shop RFQ/RFP CancelledAfter a lengthy review process brought by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Park Service is cancelling the Request for Qualifications solicitation for the Fort Baker Boat Shop in Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The five RFQ respondents were notified of the cancellation on December 1, 2021. The National Park Service (NPS) announces a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for prospective partners to lease and operate a waterfront community center at Fort Baker’s historic boat shop and marina complex. With a spectacular location adjacent to the Golden Gate Bridge, the project implements the vision for the site laid out in Golden Gate National Recreation Area's 2000 Fort Baker Master Plan and Environmental Impact Statement. ![]() Property OverviewSpectacularly located on Horseshoe Bay at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. Fort Baker is a former Army installation just south of Sausalito.
FacilitiesAn 8,200-square foot main building – a combination historic boat shop, lounge, and event space with kitchen. Three smaller outbuildings. Deck. Guest Dock. Approximately 1.3 acre parcel.
Financial RequirementsTenant-financed design, rehabilitation, and operation. Rental payments to NPS.
Development TimelineRFQ responses due June 12, 2019. A “short list” of RFQ respondents may be selected by NPS to respond to a more detailed request for proposals (RFP) in late 2019, leading to selection of a single organization for exclusive negotiations. All RFQ respondents will be asked to participate in a public tabling event at Sausalito City Hall on the evening of June 17, 2019.
