Two people were injured today in a fire that destroyed three houseboats at a dry storage and maintenance facility just outside the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

On June 27th, at approximately 11:45 a.m., National Park Service dispatch received a call that there was a fire at Offshore Marina, a dry storage facility near Bullfrog Marina at Lake Powell in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. National Park Service firefighters responded and extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Two victims were treated for significant burns on scene before being transported by Classic Air Medical to a hospital in Salt Lake City for further treatment.

"I'm proud of our firefighters and Classic Air Medical for their quick response," Billy Shott, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Superintendent said. "Partnerships between our emergency responders and the medical evacuation crews in the area make it possible to provide lifesaving response in this remote part of the country."
