RV Fire at Lone Rock Beach

Page, AZ – Just after 2:00 PM on Friday August 23rd, firefighters from the National Park Service (NPS), Big Water Fire Department and Greenhaven Fire Department battled a large recreational vehicle (RV) fire on Lone Rock Beach. Glen Canyon Engine 1 was first on scene and firefighters were able to knock the fire down but were pushed back as the RV's propane tanks began to off gas. Parked closely behind the burning RV was another large RV. Firefighters took protective actions to keep the second RV from also catching fire. Although the first RV was lost to the fire, the second RV sustained only minor damage. One firefighter and a bystander were transported by Kane County Ambulance to Page Hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries.

At the time of the incident, bystanders informed NPS Rangers that the families of both RV's were out on the lake but they believed there was a dog inside the second RV. “Mac” was rescued by firefighters, evaluated on scene by medical staff, and was reported to be in good spirits and doing well.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the National Park Service.
