Two drainages along the Lees Ferry Road will be under construction for approximately one month beginning Monday, August 10, 2015 through mid-September, 2015. The Federal Highways Administration project will repair and rehabilitate the Cathedral Wash drainage and an unnamed drainage south of the River Road intersection. Both drainages were damaged as a result of a 500 year flooding event in the fall of 2013;the project will involve the removal of large rocks and debris to restore the drainage channels, replace damaged curbing, improve road drainage, reduce erosion, and stabilize the banks of the drainages.
Single lane traffic controlled by flaggers will be required intermittently throughout the duration of the project. When single lane traffic is required, delays are not expected to exceed 10 minutes. Work will occur Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Facilities within the Lees Ferry area will be accessible throughout construction. However, Upper and Lower Cathedral Wash will be closed to hiking for the duration of the project as the wash entrance locations on Lees Ferry Road will not be accessible during construction.
