Edwin J. Sheffner - NASA


Mr. Sheffner is a program manager with the Earth Science ApplicationsDivision in the Office of Earth Science at NASA Headquarters. Hejoined the civil service in 2001. In his current position he isresponsible for programs in three national applications areas - carbonmanagement, invasive species, and agricultural efficiency.

Mr. Sheffner attained a BA in history from the University ofCalifornia, Berkeley and a MA in geography from the University ofCalifornia, Davis. He has worked with NASA for more than 25years in various capacities including principal investigator onprojects related to agricultural remote sensing and site manager for acontract supplying technical support for the Earth Science Division atNASA's Ames Research Center. He has taught classes ingeography and remote sensing at community colleges and state collegesin California.

Mr. Sheffner has been involved directly with Landsat since the mid1990s. He worked with NASA Headquarters on management issuesrelated to the Landsat 7 project and implementation of the Land RemoteSensing Policy Act of 1992. Most recently, he has assisted theOffice of Earth Science manage the compilation and distribution of theLandsat global data sets.

Mr. Sheffner resides in Washington DC.
